Hi I'm Karla and have been teaching this and many types of yoga (Hot, Restorative, Vinyasa, Mindful Movement, Gentle, Hatha, Meditation) for over 15 years and have learned most of what I teach in the co-creative spaces of classes. I have trained in various types of Bodywork (Massage/Sauna therapy) and Energy Work (Energy Medicine Training, Shamanic Training, Sound Healing) and Somatic/Trauma Work (Collective Trauma Facilitation/ Body Mind Centering Training, as well as advanced Yoga Training and Breathwork Facilitation. As a Buddhist (22 years) I believe there is fundamentally no 'separation' between us, and in a yoga class that means that when I'm teaching a class with musical rhythms and beats and connecting mind body and breath with the beat and the body- with others- its a co creative process. We are in a breathing field, and have been spending too much time focusing on our own rhythms instead of our rhythms with others. In this work, we recognise we are all breathing together) and we are consciously bringing our attention to the rhythm of breathing together.

I've a strong focused physical practice in mind, but it is simple so suitable for those who haven't practiced yoga before, but who have a strong physical practice. Its energetic so that we are consciously connecting with our chakra system as we move, and with the regulated breathwork in rhythm with the beat, there is real shifts and changes in our mind, heart and body in a deep but fun way. I have taught this class in a shorter form at Electric Picnic, Body&Soul, Life Festival, All Together Now Festival and Glastonbury Festival. The workshop is an introduction to a 8 part Yogasonics course which is a journey of exploring the energy of your chakra system and 'innerstanding' your own personal programming so that you can flip the switch on your mental, physical and emotional patterns. The Body keeps the score is a famous book about the body, nervous system and how all we are is contained in the body like a personal recording instrument. The body as biocomputer is how I organise and frame this journey through the chakras, unifying the mental, physical, and emotional bodies through the breath and the spirit of music. We are processing and programming mental physical and emotional information at all times, and this depends on our level of power, programming and how we are managing the different types of data (mental, physical, emotional, spiritual) that occurs internally and externally.

The best thing about this practice is that it is all about acknowledging our feelings as fuel. I am actively encouraging us to connect to how we feel physically and emotionally, as a way to ground and process the information coming at us at all times, especially now that we are so connected via innernet and yet so disconnected (more anxiety and sense of separation than ever). As a Yogi, I'm inspired by the vision to connect all parts of us at all times, so the attunement of breath with beat as we move, feel and become aware of each part of the body more consciously, really evokes that feeling of unity and belonging.

This particular workshop is specifically for women, so that the energetics can be refined in a specific way, meaning that as a woman who is developing this unique work for understanding consciousness (and innerstanding consciousness!) in the body, I have a particular understanding of womens bodies, and also with the strong energies I work with, there's a way to create a safer container for bigger expression with just women. Its coming into the yin time of year so its a great opportunity to celebrate with our sisters and the feminine..
